Situated on a raised level above the street our Client wanted a more contemporary and welcoming entrance to the house that reflected the updated interiors.

It was important to them that we retained a lawn area and the front wall material of reclaimed clay from an old glass furnace, a feature of the houses on this street.

We used clay pavers to build a retaining wall for the raised garden and repeated these on the paths and driveway detailing. The levels were managed using giant, 'floating', lightweight concrete steps. The colour of these blended with the rebuilt walls and paintwork and gave a contemporary feel to the garden.  A new, permeable driveway in similar tones completed the hard landscaping which was then softened with cottage garden style planting that will grow to soften all the edges of the garden.
