This tricky site on a steep slope of heavy clay made the back of this lovely family home feel dark and the garden uninviting.

The family wanted an area where their son could play racket sports, space for the Chef in the family to cook outside and for the whole family to be able to socialise and entertain. It was also important to them that a good sized grass area was retained.

By designing an excavation away from the house and stepping up into the garden in stages we were able to make the whole area more useable. The steps wind their way up through the levels taking you on a journey through play spaces, planting, dining areas, a snug firepit corner and then into a lawn area at the top.
